On March 12, 2012, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued an order (Reference 1) to PSEG Nuclear LLC (PSEG). Reference 1 was immediately effective and directs PSEG to require the Hope Creek Generating Station to take certain actions to ensure the functionality of a reliable hardened containment vent system (HCVS) to remove decay heat and maintain control of containment pressure following events that result in loss of active containment heat removal capability or prolonged station blackout (SBO). Specific requirements are outlined in Attachment 2 of Reference 1.
Reference 1 requires submission of an Overall Integrated Plan by February 28, 2013.
The NRC Interim Staff Guidance (ISG) (Reference 2) was issued August 29, 2012, and

LR-N 13-0033                                                               Order EA-12-050 Page 2 provides direction regarding the content of this Overall Integrated Plan. Reference 3 provided PSEG's initial status report regarding the Reference 1 Order.
Reference 2, Section 4.0 contains the specific reporting requirements for the Overall Integrated Plan. The information in Attachment 1 provides PSEG's Overall Integrated Plan pursuant to Section 4.0 of Reference 2. For the purposes of compliance with the Reference 1 Order, PSEG plans to use a wetwell vent.
The attached Overall Integrated Plan is based on conceptual design information. Final design details and associated procedure guidance, as well as any revisions to the information contained in Attachment 1, will be provided in the 6-month Integrated Plan updates required by Reference 1.
