WESTINGHOUSE NON-PROPRIETARY CLASS 3 Westinghouse Recommendations for the Inspections of the Monticello Replacement Steam Dryer 1.0 INSPECTION PROGRAM OVERVIEW Northern States Power, Minnesota (NSPM) installed the Westinghouse replacement steam dryer (RSD) into the Monticello plant in May 2011. The purpose of this document is to provide the Westinghouse recommendations as related to the inspections of the new steam dryer. The first inspection of this new steam dryer is planned to occur in the Spring 2013. Since during this first operating cycle with the new steam dryer, the Monticello plant did not exceed CLTP operating conditions, the inspection recommendations are reduced. The present plan is for Monticello to perform a power ascension to EPU conditions following the Spring 2013 outage. As a result, this document also provides the Westinghouse recommendations for the inspections of the new steam dryer following the first cycle of operation at EPU conditions, presently scheduled for Spring 2015.
The steam dryer inspection plan will consist of visual inspections and be primarily based on the following:
