==Dear Messrs. Herrmann and Gilbert:==

This is in response to your letter of April 23, 1985, to the Department of Energy, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), copies of documents involved in the drafting by the Atomic Energy Commission of Regulatory Guides 1.46 and 1.60. The Department of Energy referred your letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), which assumed regulatory functions of the former Atomic Energy Commission. We received the request on May 23, 1985.
Our technical staff has informed us that the only documents NRC has which are subject to your request are already in our Public Document Room (PDR), located at 1717 H Street, NW, Washington, DC. These are listed in the enclosed appendix. We are also enclosing a notice that explains procedures and charges for obtaining documents from the PDR.
