,            This is in further response to nty letter to you dated August 25, 1978 which responded to your letter dated July 5,1978 ir which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act,12 categories of information regarding the use of nuclear material in South Carolina.
The documents listed in the following appendicies are subject to your request and are being placed in the NRC Public Document Room.                They relate to subjects identified as follows:
APPENDIX A    Department of the Navy, Charleston, SC, License No. 39-6126-1.
APPENDIX B    Department of the Navy, Charleston, SC, License No. 39-6126-3.
APPENDIX C    Relate to various other materials licensed in the State of South Carolina.
APPENDIX D    Relate to exposure reports of employees at Westinghouse.             Those reports orginally con-tained an attachment which identified the exposedemployee(s). These attachments are not included pursuant to exemption'(6) of the Freedom of Information Act.
APPENDIX E     Is a list of inspection reports of radiological safety inspections at the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Copies of the reports are available in the NRC Public Document Room.
Approximately 1400 pages of records relating to Chem-Nuclear Systems, Barnwell, South Carolina, were praviously made public in an earlier F0IA request (F01A-78-155) and are available from the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).

Pursuant to 10 CFR 9.9 of the Commission's regulations, it has been determined that the information withheld from production or disclosure, and that its production or disclosure is contrary to the public interest.
The persons responsible for this denial are the undersigned and Mr. John G. Davis, Acting Director, Office of Inspection and Enforcement.
This denial may be appealed to the Commission's Executive Director for Operations within 30 days from the receipt of this letter. As provided in 10 CFR 9.11, any Executive Director fsuch     appeal must be in writing, addressed to the or Operations, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, DC 20555, and should clearly state on the envelope and in the letter that it is an " Appeal from an Initial F0IA Decision."
