Plant Record Storage on Optical Disks As requested in Generic letter 88-18 [ Reference (b)], Vermont Yankee provided formal                      '
notification in Reference (c) of our plans to implement optical disk technology for the pu poses of storage and retrieval of plant records, including quality assurance records.
                 'Ihe purpose of this submittal is to amend one portion of our previous letter of Reference (c) relating to backup copy storage, as a result of a recent intemal audit of our implementation of document storage and retrieval via the optical disk system at Vermont Yankee.
On page 2 of our Refe ence (c) submittal, the following information was provided regarding storage of the second (backup) optical disk:
                 "The optical disk system and the backup drive will be contained within [the on-site] storage vault. When a backup disk becomes filled, it will be removed and sent to a permanent off-site .
storage vault."
Vermont Yankee would like to replace the above information with the following:
                 " Vermont Yankee is storing the second (backup) optical disk in a separate, remote location.                l When the backup disk becomes filled, it will be removed and sent to a permanent off-site                     '
storage vault."
