f'                              By letter of November 15, 1985 the NRC requested information, and a schedule
!                               for subsequent utility actions to address the concern that motor operated valves (MOV) may be susceptible.to common mode failures during plant transients due to improper switch settings.
After evaluating the request, Boston' Edison and a number of other members of the Bolling Hater Reactor Owners'. Group (BNR0G) determined that parts of Bulletin 85-03 would benefit from a generic approach. This effort would yield the scope of systems, range of events, and a set of assumptions pertinent to developing a BWR response. By letter of April 29, 1986, the BWROG transmitted t
notice of its undertaking the task of developing such a generic BWR position, and requested exemption from the required Bulletin response date of May 14, 1986. The BHROG expects to complete the task by September, 1986.
t Boston' Edison (BECo) herein endorses the BWROG position, and the response date exempt!on request. 'BECo will submit its plant specific data and schedules shortly'after reviewing the BWROG's formally promulgated final position.
