r Haddam Neck ISAP Topic No. 2.17 Zircaloy Clad Conversion

===Background===
Haddam Neck is one of the few plants that utilizes stainless steel cladding. A conversion to zircaloy cladding has the potential for substantial fuel cycle savings.
CYAPCO Evaluation CYAPCO is presently evaluating both the technical and licensing issues involved with the conversion to zircaloy fuel pellet cladding.
Additionally, in order to supplement the evaluations of the implications of zircaloy conversion, four zircaloy test assemblies have been installed in the core. This allows a more detailed analysis of the skeletalintegrity (i.e., stress, strain and fatigue analyses) of these test assemblies. CYAPCO has requested and received approval for temporary exemptions from 40CFR50.46 and Appen-dix K, such that these test assemblies could be utilized.
Further analysis of th'is issue by CYAPCO is ongoing. Further evaluation will be provided in the integrated assessment.}}
