The purpose of this letter is to revise the commitments that were previously submitted to the NRC in LER 96-050-00 "Ranae Of Control Buildina Chilled Water Pumo Suction Pressure Gauaes Used For Surveillance Not in Accordance With ASME Chapter XI                                 i Reauirements." These commitments included a review of the gauges within the IST                              ;
Program, and correction of any discrepancies identified during this review. In the LER                       I we stated that these actions would be completed prior to July 1,1997.                                        )
The review of the gauges within the IST Program was completed on March 24,1997.
This review identified that the IST is in full compliance with ASME chapter XI but that a need existed to come into compliance with the revised IST Program Plan which has been updated to American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) OM-6,1988 for the Second Ten Year Interval. This interval will start on October 26,1997. Compliance with the revised requirements will require the use of installed alternate gauges in the                       I accomplishment of several surveillances. The related procedures changes will be                               j reviewed to ensure the unit will be in full compliance with the requirements of ASME                     -
1 OM-6 prior to the start of the Second Ten Year IST Interval. Additionally, the review of              . l the gauges within the IST Program identified the need to install new gauges with the                    /g    l proper range in several applications as a long term program enhancement. This design                           j change will also be completed by October 26,1997.                                                            ;
The revised commitments are provided in Attachment 1. The remaining commitments in our letter of January 10,1997 are unchanged.
