Licensee Event Report (LER) 96-012-02

==Dear Sir:==

Please find the enclosed Licensee Event Report (LER) 96-012-02.                                         This supplemental report is submitted by Florida Power Corporation (FPC) in accordance with 10 CFR 50.73.
This supplement reflects a decision by FPC to increase the total number of battery chargers tested by the manufacturer by one additional battery charger (for a total of two out of the six installed).                        That testing will provide additional assurance of the acceptability of the chargers purchased in 1995 that were not fully tested in accordance with FPC's purchase requirements. As a result, the scheduled date for replacement of the remaining spare battery charger, reflected in the original LER, has been extended to August 31, 1996 to compensate for the additional testing. In addition, the action item concerning the potential use of the currently inoperable spare battery chargers was clarified to reflect the need for appropriate approvals.
