RADIATION OVER-EXPOSURE TO A MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC - Update This is an update to the preliminary notification issued on December 17          m regarding an event reported by a State of Washington radiography licensee, Profess.onai serv ~e Industries, Inc. The incident occurred at a temporary jobsite location in Seattle and resulted in a radiation over-exposure to a member of the public.
Following the licensee's initial report of the event to the State of Washington Radiation Control Program (WRCP), the state performed a reactive inspection, including a re-enactment of the incident. Based on the information provided to WRCP during its investigation, the state has performed dose calculations for the exposed individual. WRCP has estimated that the individual received the following doses as a result of the incident:
less than or equal to 5 rems whole l'ody,680 rems to the right thumb,100 rems to the right index finger, and 170 rems to the palm of the left hand. As noted earlier, the exposed                   I individual's physician has already contacted REAC/TS.                                                    i l
