UPDATE ON THE MOLYBDENUM-99/ TECHNETIUM-99M GENERATOR RECEIVED WITH EXCESSIVE RADIATION LEVELS Reference to the August 2, 1988, PNO-IV-88-61. On August 1, 1988, the licensee perform <d surveys of the facility, delivery vehicle and personnel and found no contamination. A Cintichem representative arrived at the licensee's facility on           i August 2, 1988, to examine the generator and to perform surveys. The purported                l conclusion of the manufacturer's representative was that the generator was not                I damaged or leaking. However, given the short (6-hour) half-life of technicium 99m, that conclusior may not be valid. NMSS has coordinated with FDA, who is discussing the matter with Cintichem.
l The NRC has not informed the nevs media.                                                      l l
Neither the licensee nor the NRC plans to issue a press release.
