By letter dated June 26, 2020 (Reference 1), Ameren Missouri (Union Electric) submitted a license amendment request (LAR) for approval to delay performance of the steam generator inspection required per part d.2 of Callaway Technical Specification 5.5.9, Steam Generator (SG) Program. The inspection (i.e. eddy current testing of the steam generator tubes) is currently scheduled to be performed during Refuel Outage (RFO) 24 at the Callaway Plant this Attachment 1 to this letter contains sensitive information and should be withheld from public disclosure per 10 CFR 2.390.

SENSITIVE INFORMATION WITHHOLD FROM PUBLIC DISCLOSURE UNDER 10 CFR 2.390 ULNRC-06595 August 25, 2020 Page 2 of 5 coming October (2020), and per the requested license amendment, it would be deferred to RFO 25 which is scheduled for the spring of 2022. Subsequent to submittal of the LAR, a supplement dated July 2 1 2020 (Reference 2) was submitted to provide an amended proprietary version of the vendor-supplied Operational Assessment included with the LAR. The amended version included brackets adjacent to the text containing the proprietary information, with markings alongside the brackets, signifying the particular reason/basis for the proprietary information (i.e.,
why it should be withheld).
During its review of the LAP. (including the provided Operational Assessment), the NRC staff determined that a request for additional information (RAI) was needed to complete its review.
The NRC transmitted an RAI to Ameren Missouri in electronic form on August 12, 2020, and requested that the response be provided within 30 days of receipt. Accordingly, the response to the RAI is attached to this letter. The additional information provided in the RAI response does not change the No Significant Hazards Consideration conclusions reached in the LAR, nor does it change the conclusion regarding no need for an environmental assessment based on the categorical exclusion provisions of 10 CFR 5 1 .22, in regard to the LAR.
It should be noted that the complete RAI response contains proprietary information. Therefore, a proprietary version and a non-proprietary (redacted) version of the RAI response (as prepared in the form of a report by Ameren Missouris contractor, Framatome, Inc.) are provided as Attachments 1 and 2 to this letter, respectively. An affidavit attesting to the proprietary nature of Attachment 1 (i.e., the need for withholding the proprietary information from public disclosure per 10 CFR 2.390) is provided as Attachment 3 to this letter.
This submittal does not contain new commitments.
In accordance with 10 CFR 50.9 1, Notice for public comment; State consultation, Section (b)(l), a copy of this RAJ response (in support of the associated license amendment application) is being provided to the designated Missouri State official.
