Waterford SES Unit 3 Docket No. 50-382 ASME Section III Commitment
Dear Mr. Knighton:
The Essential Chilled Water System (ECWS) and the Component Cooling Water System (CCWS) piping were initially designed and built in accordance with ASME Section III, Class 3, 1971 Edition up to and including the 1972 Winter addenda. These commitments to the ASME Section III Winter 1972 addenda are documented in Table 9.2-1 and section 9.2.9.2.4 of the FSAR.
As provided by 10CFR50.55a(b)(2), ASME Section III, Winter 1981 addenda paragraph NC/ND-6114.2(b) was used to forego further hydrotesting of welds that had been found to be undersized and had been revelded on ECW3 and CCWS piping. The rewelding of the ECWS and CCWS piping welds without furthee hydrotesting is in accordance with the regulatory authority provided by 10CFR50.55a(b)(2) and FSAR section 3.2.2.
Accordingly, the FSAR will be updated in accordance with 10CFR50.71e to reflect the updated ASME Section III Winter 1981 addenda commitment for ECWS and CCWS piping, pursuant to 10CFR50.55a(b)(2).
