Arkansas Nuclear One - Unit 2 Docket No. 368 License No. NPF-6 Application for License Amendment
Dear Mr. Calvo:
Arkansas Power & Light Company (AP&L) hereby requests an amendment to Facility Operating License No. NPF-6 for Arkansas Nuclear One - Unit 2 (ANO-2) to extend the term of the license to forty years.
Specifically, it is requested that the expiration date of the license be changed from December 6, 2012 to July 17, 2018. describes the requested change to the Facility Operating License.
The current AN0-2 operating license was originally issued on July 18, 1978, and expires on December 6, 2012; a term of approximately 34-years.
However, the plant is designed for at least forty years of operation and an operating license term of forty years is permitted by 10CFR50.51.
AP&L has evaluated the safety, radiological, and environmental issues associated with the requested license amendment.
These evaluations are described in Attachment 2.
AP&L has concluded that extension of the operating license to the full 40 year term is consistent with the design of the plant and within the bounds of the applicable safety and environmental requirements.
In accordance with 10CFR50.91(a)(1), AP&L has evaluated the proposed change using the criteria in 10CFR50.92(c) and has determined that this change involves no significant hazards considerations.

Mr. Jose A. Calvo October 30, 1987 Approval of the proposed amendment is permitted by NRC regulations, justified by the attached evaluations, and consistent with current NRC practice.
A copy of this application has been submitted to the NRC Regional Office, Region IV, and to the ANO Resident Inspector, in accordance with 10CFR50.4.b(1).
Also, in accordance with 10CFR50.91(b)(1), a copy of this amendment request has been sent to Ms. Greta Dicus, Director, Division of Radiation Control and Emergency Management, Arkansas Department of Health.
A check in the amount of $150 is included as an application fee in accordance with 10CFR170.12(c).
