DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF NUCLEAR REACTOR REGULATION, MEMORANDUM DATED July 17, 2020 Attached is the Office of the Inspector Generals (OIG) analysis and status of recommendations as discussed in the agencys response dated July 17, 2020. Based on this response, recommendation 1 remains open and resolved. Please provide a status update for the open and resolved recommendation by November 30, 2020.

Audit Report AUDIT OF THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION'S SPECIAL AND INFREQUENTLY PERFORMED INSPECTIONS OIG-18-A-13 Status of Recommendations Recommendation 1: Update Inspection Manual Chapter (IMC) 2515, Light-Water Reactor Inspection Program - Operations Phase, Appendix C, Special and Infrequently Performed Inspections, and applicable Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) guidance to reflect the requirement to ensure consistent and periodic reviews of IMC 2515 Appendix C inspection procedures.
Agency Response Dated July 17, 2020: The staff updated IMC 2515, Appendix C on May 1, 2019, to include the following statement:
Each inspection procedure in the table below will be reviewed in accordance with the periodicity and process specified in Inspection Manual Chapter 0307.
On May 29, 2020, the NRC staff revised IMC 0307, Reactor Oversight Process Self-Assessment program, Appendix A.
This revision included aligning the IMC 0307, Appendix A, metric for periodic review of Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) IMCs and Inspection Procedures to the 5-year periodic inspection manual document review requirement in NRR Office Instruction OVRST-102, NRR Procedures for Processing Inspection Manual Documents.
The staff has also determined that a change should also be made to IMC 0040, Preparing, Revising and Issuing Documents for the NRC Inspection Manual, to ensure that the requirement for periodic review of ROP Inspection Manual documents (consistent with OVRST-102) is incorporated into this governing document for maintain the Inspection Manual. The staff plans on revising IMC 0040 by August 1, 2020, to update the reference to include IMC 0040.

OIG Analysis: OIG will close this recommendation upon reviewing updated IMC 0307, Appendix A, OVRST-102, and IMC 0040 to verify requirements for consistent and periodic reviews of IMC 2515 Appendix C inspection procedures. This recommendation remains open and resolved.
