Waterford SES Unit 3 Docket No. 50-382 Natural Circulation Cooldown/ Boron Mixing
Dear Sir:
In lieu of performing a natural circulation test to demonstrate adequate boron rlxing, LP&L referenced the boron mixing tests to be performed at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS). This position was foeud acceptable by the Staff in the Waterford SER, and fifth Supplement to the SER (section 5.4.3).
The boron mixing tests have been completed at SONGS. LP&L participated in a CE Owners Group effort to evaluate the SONGS results and demonstrate applicability to Waterford 3.
Enclosed please find four copies of CEN-259, An Evaluation of the Natural Circulation Cooldown Test Performed at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. The Owners Group work has confirmed the acceptability and cpplicability of the SONGS results to Waterford 3.
