FOLLOW-UP TO JUNE 29, 1998 MEETING SALEM GENERATING STATION UNITS 1AND2 AND HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-272, 50-311, AND 50-354 On June 29, 1998, Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) met with the NRC to discuss concerns identified by the NRC in "Hope Creek Examination Report 50-354/98-03 (OL) Supplement" dated June 16, 1998..

As discussed during the meeting, PSE&G is forwarding the enclosed copies of the Salem and Hope Creek qualification guides entitled, "Reactivity Manipulations Documentation Guide," for your review. As stated at the meeting, PSE&G will be providing copies of the completed qualification guides for the current license classes with the NRC-Form 398 License Applications as documentation for the completion of the required significant control manipulations.

Also enclosed is a page from training procedure, NC.TQ-TP.ZZ-0302, "Nuclear Control Operator (NCO) Training Program," concerning the amount of time that an initial license candidate must spend on-shift in training. The current procedure .clearly identifies that the trainee will spend a minimum of 13 weeks on-shift comprised of a minimum of 520 hours0.00602 days <br />0.144 hours <br />8.597884e-4 weeks <br />1.9786e-4 months <br />. The time spent on-shift is documented on the 'Qualification Checkout Card" (copy enclosed).
