Letter G02-93-297, JV Parrish (SS) to NRC, "Generic Approval of Extended Burnup for 8X8 Fuel" The Supply System is submitting the COLR 93-9, Revision 1, in accordance with the requirements of WNP-2 Technical Specification 6.9.3.4.
The COLR has been reviewed and approved by the WNP-2 Plant Operating Committee.
Revision 1 to COLR 93-9 is required because the thermal limits provided in COLR 93-9 Revision 0, were based on a maximum cycle exposure of 273 Effective Full Power Days (EFPD) of operation.
Siemens Pow'er Corporation (SPC) performed an analysis which confirmed that the thermal limits provided by COLR 93-9 Revision 0 were applicable to support plant coastdown through the end of May 1994.
Revision 1 of COLR 93-9 adds the reference for the SPC coastdown analysis to the COLR.
Although Cycle 9 is currently scheduled to end on April29, 1994, this revision to the COLR will support continued operation through the end of May.
However, WNP-2 SPC 8X8 fuel assemblies are limited to 35 GWd/MTU. An extension to that limitwas requested by Reference 2.
The Supply System willcontinue to monitor the SPC 8X8 assembly exposure to ensure the limitis not exceeded without prior approval from the NRC.
