Letter, G02-90-017, GC Sorensen (SS) to NRC Region V, same subject, dated February 5, 1990 In the reference letter, the-Supply System advised the NRC that we would include the confirmation of item IV of Generic Letter 89-13 (i.e., that the Service Water System will perform its intended function in accordance with the licensing basis of the plant) as part of a Safety System Functional Inspection (SSFI) on the entire service water system. The Supply System committed to provide confirmation of the completion of this activity by February 1991. The purpose of this letter is to provide such confirmation.

In December, 1990 the Supply System issued Technical Assessment 90-015, "Safety System Functional Inspection, Service Water". As required by Generic Letter 89-13, a complete system walkdown inspection was performed as part of the SSFI. The timing of this walkdown satisfies the "within the past 2 years" requirement of the generic letter. The ability to perform required safety functions in the event of failure of a single active component is satisfied by having two totally redundant systems. The overall result of the SSFI with the walkdown was to confirm that the service water system will perform its intended functions in accordance with the licensing basis for the plant.

This completes the Supply System's response to Generic Letter 89-13.
