Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a, "Codes and Standards," Paragraph (a)(3)(i) and Paragraph (a)(3)(ii)

NextEra Energy Point Beach, LLC (NextEra) requested in Reference (1) that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) grant NextEra relief from the requirements of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (B&PV Code),

Section XI, 2007 Edition with 2008 Addenda for the Point Beach Nuclear Plant (PBNP)

Units 1 and 2.

Specifically, relief was requested from the requirements of IWD-5220, for pressure testing of emergency diesel generator Class 3 sub-systems.

Via Reference (2), the NRC determined additional information was required to enable the staff's continued review of the Relief Request RR-9. The Enclosure to this letter contains the response to the request for additional information in Reference (2).

This letter contains no new Regulatory Commitments or revisions to existing Regulatory Commitments.

ENCLOSURE NEXTERA ENERGY POINT BEACH POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 & 2 RESPONSE TO REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING 10 CFR 50.55A REQUEST, RELIEF REQUEST RR-9 FIFTH TEN-YEAR INSERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAM INTERVAL The NRC staff determined that additional information was required (Reference 2) to enable the continued review of the Relief Request RR-9 (Reference 1 ). The following information is provided by NextEra Energy Point Beach, LLC (NextEra) in response to the NRC staff's request.

By letter dated May 13, 2014 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession Number ML14133A365), NextEra Energy Point Beach, LLC requested relief from the requirements of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI, associated with the pressure testing emergency diesel generator Class 3 sub-systems at Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2.

To complete its review, the NRC staff requests the following additional information:

1) Please state whether any repairs/replacement on the Class 3 piping addressed by the relief would follow IWA-4000 requirements after entered into your corrective action program.
