OPPD 180-day Response to NRC Request for Information Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.54(f) Regarding the Seismic Aspects of Recommendation 2.3 of the Near-Term Task Force Review of Insights from the Fukushima Dai-ichi Accident On March 12, 2012, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Reference 2 to all power reactor licensees. Enclosure 3 of Reference 2 contains specific Requested
- Actions, Requested Information, and Required Responses associated with Recommendation 2.3: Seismic.
On July 5, 2012, the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) submitted the 120-day response (Reference 4) requested in Enclosure 3 of Reference 2, confirming that OPPD would use the NRC-endorsed seismic walkdown procedure.
For Recommendation 2.3: Seismic (walkdowns), Enclosure 3 of Reference 2 states that within 180 days of the NRC's endorsement of the walkdown process (Reference 3),

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission LIC-1 2-0169 Page 2 Recommendation 2.3: Seismic, for Fort Calhoun Station. Conditions identified during the walkdowns were documented and entered into the corrective action program.
Section 6.3 of Enclosure 1 lists eight (8) items on the seismic walkdown equipment list (SWEL) that were inaccessible during the walkdowns. OPPD will complete walkdowns of these eight items by March 31, 2013, and provide an updated report by June 30, 2013. These actions are considered one-time regulatory commitments and are listed in the Regulatory Commitments Table found in Enclosure 2. The status of condition reports (EA1 2-021, Attachment 11.4) written as a result of the walkdowns and walk-bys is provided in Enclosure 3.
