WAmeren MISSOURI Callaway Plant April 30, 2012 ULNRC-05857 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555-0001 Ladies and Gentlemen:
10 CFR 50.90 DOCKET NUMBER 50-483 CALLAWAY PLANT UNIT 1 UNION ELECTRIC CO.
WITHDRAWAL OF APPLICATION FOR AMENDMENT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NPF-30 (LDCN 11-0010, TAC NO. ME7534)
NEW TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 3.7.20
Reference:
ULNRC-05774 dated November 3, 2011 In the above referenced letter Ameren Missouri (Union Electric Company) transmitted an application for amendment to Facility Operating License Number NPF-30 for the Callaway Plant. The proposed amendment would have added new Technical Specification (TS) 3.7.20, "Class 1E Electrical Equipment Air-Conditioning (NC) System," to the Callaway TSs. NewTS 3.7.20 would have included the Limiting Condition for Operation (LCO) statement, Applicability during which the LCO must be met, Actions (with Conditions, Required Actions, and Completion Times) to be applied when the LCO is not met, and Surveillance Requirements to periodically demonstrate that the LCO is met for the Class IE Electrical Equipment NC System trains at Callaway Plant.
Ameren Missouri hereby withdraws the requested license amendment. Since the underlying need for the proposed amendment remains, and it has generated generic industry interest within the Pressurized Water Reactor Owners Group, it is Ameren Missouri's intent to submit another amendment request in the near future, one in which new/proposed TS 3.7.20 would be reformatted and the calculation basis underpinning the amendment would be revised.
