On March 12,2007, Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) received a NRC Confirmatory Action Letter (CAL) No. NRR-07-005 regarding commitments made by SNC letter dated March 6,2007, in regard to Alloy 8211 82 butt welds in the pressurizer at Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP) Units 1 and 2. The SNC letter described actions that would be taken by VEGP for the pressurizer dissimilar metal butt welds containing Alloy 8211 82 material. These commitments addressed: 1 ) completion schedules for inspectionlmitigation of the welds; 2) RCS leak monitoring frequency, action levels, and actions; and 3) reporting requirements.
On April 13,2007, Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) submitted a letter to the NRC providing examination results for the VEGP Unit 2 pressurizer nozzle full structural weld overlays and a discussion of repairs to the overlay material andlor base metal. This information was supplemented by SNC letter dated April 18,2007. These submittals satisfied the 60-Day reporting requirement committed to by SNC letter dated March 6, 2007, and also completes all of the actions and commitments addressed in the CAL in regard to VEGP Unit 2.
On page 2 of the CAL, there is a requirement for SNC to notify the NRC when the actions and commitments addressed in the subject CAL are completed. This letter is to notify the NRC that SNC has completed all actions and commitments addressed in the CAL in regard to VEGP Unit 2.
