The Pilgrim nuclear plant is a boiling water reactor located on the western shore of Cape Cod Bay in the town of Plymouth, Mass. Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc., submitted the renewal application Jan. 25. The current operating license for Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station expires on June 8, 2012.

The NRC staff has determined that the application contains sufficient information for the agency to formally docket, or file, the application and begin its technical review. A notice of opportunity to request a hearing will be published soon in the Federal Register.

Petitions may be filed by anyone whose interest may be affected by the license renewal and who wishes to participate as a party in the proceeding.
