Reference:
Telephone Conference, "Diesel Generator Fuel Oil Strainer Fouling," of November 13, 2003 between Stewart Minahan, et al, (NPPD), Kriss Kennedy, et al, (NRC-Region IV) and Michelle Iloncharik, et al, (NRC-NRR)
The purpose of this letter is to confirm on the docket the understanding of and commitment to actions being taken as discussed in the referenced telephone conference. This letter provides confinnation of Nebraska Public Power District's (NPPD) commitment to these actions as detailed below.
I) As an interim action, NPPD will obtain a monthly bottom thief sample from te Diesel Generator Fuel Oil Storage Tanks and analyze these samples for particulate concentration.
- 2)
As an interim action, NPPD will increase the frequency of the Diesel Fuel Oil Strainers cleaning to once per month.
- 3)
As a corrective action to mitigate the effects of corrosion, NPPD will line te Diesel Generator Fuel Oil Storage Tanks during te next refueling outage. Items I) and 2) will no longer be required upon completion of this action.

Please notify the Licensing & Regulatory Affairs Manager at Cooper Nuclear Station of any questions regarding this document or any associated regulatory commitments.
