The NRC perform Inspections based on Inspection Procedures at sites which are documented in an Inspection Report with Inspection Findings.

- Regular Inspection - periodic and expected
- Resident inspection - continuous done by site NRC resident inspector
- Elevated Inspection - Response to "white" findings or performance indicators
- Temporary Inspection - Topical inspections; usually based on new program implementation. one time
- Reactive Inspection - Immediate response to a specific event
