NPF:-12 SPECIAL REPORT (SPR) 2006-002 South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) is submitting this report pursuant to the requirements of Technical Specification 3.3.3.1.b. This report addresses the inoperability of the Main Steam Line radiation monitors (RMG-1 9A(B)(C)) for greater than 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br />. During the inoperable period of 91 hours0.00105 days <br />0.0253 hours <br />1.50463e-4 weeks <br />3.46255e-5 months <br /> and 15 minutes, V. C. Summer Nuclear Station (VCSNS) implemented a preplanned alternate monitoring in accordance with the requirements of Action 30 of the Technical Specification.

The radiation monitors were removed from service on February 25, 2006 at 1700 hours0.0197 days <br />0.472 hours <br />0.00281 weeks <br />6.4685e-4 months <br /> in order to replace the Victoreen Model 845 series monitor with a new Victoreen Model 945A series to improve equipment reliability. The modifications were completed and the equipment returned to operability on March 1, 2006 at 1215 hours0.0141 days <br />0.338 hours <br />0.00201 weeks <br />4.623075e-4 months <br />.
