Viktoria Mitlyng, 630-829-9662 Prema Chandrathil, 630-829-9663 NRC Names New Senior Resident Inspector at Dresden Nuclear Power Station The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected April Nguyen as the new senior resident inspector at the Dresden Nuclear Power Station in Morris, Ill., approximately 25 miles southwest of Joliet. The dual-unit plant is operated by Exelon Generation Co.

Nguyen joined the NRC in 2008 as a reactor engineer in Region III. She has served as both the resident and senior resident inspector at Palisades Nuclear Plant. Nguyen holds a bachelors degree in nuclear, plasma and radiological engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Each commercial nuclear power plant site in the United States has at least two resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. Nguyen will join the NRC resident inspector at the Dresden facility. They will serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections and monitoring significant work projects.
