Diane Screnci, 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan, 610-337-5331 NRC Assigns New Senior Resident Inspector to FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Ken Kolaczyk as the agencys new senior resident inspector at the James A. FitzPatrick nuclear power plant, in Scriba (Oswego County), N.Y. Kolaczyk joins NRC Resident Inspector Beth Sienel at the plant, which is owned and operated by Exelon.

Ken Kolaczyk is a highly trained and talented inspector who is committed to safety and the NRC mission. In this new assignment, he will play a vital role in assuring that the FitzPatrick nuclear power plant continues to meet the high standards set by our agency, said NRC Region I Administrator Dan Dorman.

Most recently, Kolaczyk served as the senior resident inspector at the neighboring Nine Mile Point nuclear power plant. He joined the NRC in 1988 and has served as senior resident inspector at another upstate New York nuclear power plant, Ginna; as a resident inspector at a plant in Connecticut; and as an operator licensing examiner and reactor inspector based at the agencys Region I office.

He holds a bachelors degree in marine engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and masters degrees from the Pennsylvania State University and the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he is a captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work activities and interacting with plant workers and the public.

The FitzPatrick resident inspectors can be reached at 315-342-4907.
