NEI 99-01 Rev. 7 Implementation:

NRC Pre-submittal Meeting February 23, 2023

Background

  • Constellation plants EALs are currently based on NEI 99-01, Revision 6 guidance
  • NEI and NRC are working through final development of Revision 7 to the NEI 99-01 guidance
  • NRC endorsement of the NEI 99-01, Revision 7 guidance is currently anticipated about June 2023 1

NEI 99-01 Rev. 7 - Development Considerations

  • Current EALs for correct level of event classification and necessity were reviewed
  • References to permanently shutdown conditions were removed 2

Approximate Timeline and Schedule

  • Expect no deviations from the guidance in NEI 99-01 Rev. 7
  • Expect fleet drafts and fleet internal reviews to be completed by June of 2023
  • Anticipate NRC endorsement about June of 2023
  • Will reconcile any differences between NEI 99-01 Rev. 7 draft and what is endorsed by the NRC
  • Will coordinate submittal of License Amendment Request with final NRC-endorsement of NEI 99-01, Revision 7, guidance (late July 2023)
  • Request 12-month NRC review period (July 2024) with final site implementation occurring by late 1Q25 o Extended implementation period is needed to facilitate and coordinate necessary training with established training cycles for the Operations' personnel and other Emergency Response Organization (ERO) personnel and allows time to complete the training around outage schedules.
