INSERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAM RELIEF REQUEST (TAC 52302,52303)

Re: Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2 The plan was reviewed and evaluated with technical assistance from our contractor, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), who reviewed and evaluated your plan, and prepared a technical evaluation report (TERI on your request for relief from examination requirements that are impractical to perform at Guad cities Units 1 and 2. The NRC staff has prepared a safety evaluation (SE) on the conclusions and recomendations made by SAIC, based on the Commonwealth Edison reonests, supportino information, and proposed alternative examinations or tests. Our SE is enclosed with the TER as an attachment to the enclosed SE.

Relief has been qranted for those examination requirements found to be impractical to perform and, by granting relief, would not compromise the safety of the facility. Relief has been granted for certain examination requirements with a condition as described in the Relief Request Status column of a Table in our Safety Evaluation. In such cases, relief is granted subject to the stated condition.

Accordingly, relief from certain requirements of Section XI of the ASME Code is hereby granted, as described in the enclosed Safety Evaluation, for the second ten-year interval.
