Gentlemen:

This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by.Mr. Z. Falevits of

-

this office on August 12-14, 26-28, and September 3, 1985, of activities at

'LaSalle County Station Units 1 and 2 authorized by NRC Operating License

Nos. NPF-11 and NPF-18 and to the discussion of our findings with Messrs. 7

L. O. De1 George, R. Bishop and others of your staff at the conclusion of the

inspection.

The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas exas.ined during-

the inspection. Within these areas,_the inspection consisted of a selective

examination of procedures and representative records, observations',-and

interviews with personnel.

During this inspection, certain of your activities appeared to be in violation

of NRC requirements, as specified in the enclosed Appendix A. A written

response is required to Appendix A. Certain other activities, set forth in

Appendix B to this letter, appear to be a deviation from commitments which you

gl 'have made in previous correspondence with the Commission. We request that you

l .also address the items in Appendix B in your response.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of-

this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's

/o Public Document Room.
