In Inspection Report Nos. 50-324/96-04 and 50-325/96-04, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) documented inspection activities pertaining to the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Units 1 and 2. Section 4.1 in this report discussed replacement of the "B" low pressure turbine rotor and included a staterrent that all welders who performed work on the turbine during this outage were appropriately trained and certified to weld and perform work to the appropriate procedures. Carolina Power & Light Company would like to clarify this statement by noting that all welders who were involved with this work, with the exception of the one non-certified welder discussed in our August 15,1996 letter, were appropriately trained and certified to weld and perform work to the appropriate procedures.
