! By letter dated September 1, 1995, Duke Power proposed .

l Technical Specification (TS) changes to reduce the mass of ice required to be present in the ice condenser at McGuire 1 Nuclear Station. The analysis which supported this reduction assumed a loss-of-coolant accident coincident with a loss of l off-site power. The turbine-driven auxiliary feedwater pump (TDAEWP) was assumed to start, and to fill the steam  :

generators. However, an interlock has been identified which '

would block the start of the TDAFWP when a safety injection i signal is received'within 8.5 seconds of a loss of power.

l Therefore, the proposed TS change is hereby withdrawn. A modification to restore the ability of the TDAFWP to start under the assumed conditions will be implemented, and a new proposed TS change will be submitted when ready.
