O'Reilly, Director U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Suite 2900 101 Marietta Street, hV Atlanta, GA 30323 BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLAhT UNIT 1 DOCKET NO. 50-325 LICENSE NO. DPR-71 SPECIAL REPORT PER TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 3.3.5.7 AND PURSUANT TO TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 6.9.2 (1-SR-84-6)

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

On December 4,1984, performance of the operability test of the nonsupervised circuitry between the fire detection panels and the Control Room annunicators, PT-35.17, revealed the Control Room annunciator associated with the Unit 1 Reactor Building 117-foot elevation zone 14 fire detection instrument group did not audibly alarm as required. On December 18, 1984, the specified 14-day time frame of the involveu LCO for zene 14 fire detection instruments was exceeded.

Troubleshooting revealed a defective logic card in the annunicator panel was preventing the annunciator from audibly alarming. On December 27, 1984, the subject logic card was replaced and the annunciator was satisfactorily tested for operation and returned to service.

Very truly yours, Id C. R. Dietz, General Manager Brunswick Steam Electric Plant MJP/ag/LETAG cc: Mr. R. C. DeYoung NRC Document Control Desk
