On January 9,1996, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued Administrative Letter 96-01,

" Operator Licensing National Examination Schedule." This administrative letter requested addresses to voluntarily submit information pertaining to their previous estimates on the number of candidates to be tested for operator licenses in fiscal years 1996 through 1999.

Pursuant to the instructions provided in the administrative letter, Carolina Power & Light Company is providing in Enclosure 1 the following information for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant:

1. Section A of the NRC Form 536," Operator Licensing Examination Data" enclosed with j the administrative letter has been updated with the estimated number of candidates to be examined during each of the two annual scheduled site visits. In lesponse to the NRC request that a desired primary date be identified (should scheduling allow for only one NRC examination visit per fiscal year), CP&L has provided an estimated number of candidates for only one examination session each fiscal year.

2. Section B of the NRC Form 536 enclosed with the administrative letter has been updated with the estimated number of candidates that will participate in the generic fundamentals examination (GFE) scheduled for April 1996 and October 1996. In addition, CP&L ,

estimates that 12 candidates will participate in the GFE scheduled for April 1997.

The admir,istrative letter also requested addressees provide dates for the next scheduled licensed operator requalification examinations. The 1996 licensed operator requalification annual examinations for the Brunswick Plant will be conducted from July 22 through August 22,1996 and will consist of an operating examination only.
