PROTECTIVE INSTRUMENTATION Gentlemen:

By letter dated September 21, 1990, Georgia Power Company (GPC) submitted a request to revise protective instrumentation requirements contained in the Plant Hatch Units 1 and 2 Technical Specifications (TS).

Part of this submittal involved allowing a temporary bypass of the reactor water cleanup (RWCU) differential flow isolation instrumentation when system restoration, testing, or maintenance is being performed. This allowance was to be implemented by a note being added to the isolation actuatio~ instrumentation tables of each unit's TS. 'ihe note was added to the Unit 2 table as intended, but due to a clerical error the word

" maintenance" was unintentionally omitted from the note in the Unit 1 table. This letter is to request the note be added to the table in the Unit 1 TS in the same form as in the Unit 2 TS, including the word

" maintenance." Since this submittal only corrects an error made in the development of the previous submittal, the description of the proposed changes and the 10 CFR 50.92 evaluation included in the letter dated September 21, 1990 are still valid.

Enclosed are page change instructions for incorporating the proposed change. Following the enclosure is the proposed TS page.
