Gentlemen:

Millstone. Nuclear Power: Station, Unit No. 3 Steam Generator Blowdown Radiation Monitor In Reference (1), Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNEC0).provided a' response that described the reasons for failure to repair the steam generator blowdown radiation monitor in a timely manner 'and outlined to the: NRC :al plan for restoring the monitor to service. Specifically, NNECO indicated' that the design changes to the system and. restoring the_. monitor to service will be accomplished by February 28, 1990 (References (1).and-(2)).

Modifications to the steam generator- blowdown sample system. were; completed this week. System Operation will be evaluated for ~ the next two weeks to-ensure that the monitor is operating reliably. Then, NNEC0, intends to declare the monitor operable.
