TOLEDO EDISON COMPANY DAVIS-EESSE NUCLEAR PO'.,ER STATION UNIT ONE SUPP1 DiENTAL INFO:QTION FOR LER NP-33-79-72 DATE OF EVEjg: June 9, 1979 FACILITY: Davis-Besse Unit 1 IDENTIFICATION dF OCCURRENCE: Zone 12 of fire alarm panel C4705 in continuous alarm Conditions Prior to Occurrence: The unit was in Mode 5, with Power (!fdT) = 0, and Load (Gross MWE) = 0.

Description of Occurrence- On June 9, 1979 at 1915 hours0.0222 days <br />0.532 hours <br />0.00317 weeks <br />7.286575e-4 months <br />, fire a_ m point F018 alt.med on the Unit Contact Logging System (CLS) typer. An <>perator uas dispate'aed to investigate the alam and found no fire. Zone alara 12 of Fire Alarn Panel C4705 was in alam and would not reset. As no apparent fire condition existed, the alarn point F018 was declared out of service, placing the unit in the Accion St..tement of Techni cal Specificat ion 3. 3. 3.8.a, which requires a fire watch to be established within one hour. A fire watch was established and a work request submitted Designation of Apyarent_Cause of Occurrence: As there was no fire condition to unse the alarm and nothing was found to be urong with the detector, tha exact cause of this occurrence is unknown. It is suspected, however, that dust within the ductwork monitored by the detector or dirt on the detector nay have initiated the erroneous ala m .

Analysis of Occurrence: There was no dant;er to the health and safety of the public or to station personnel. There were no fires while alam point F018 was out of service. In addition, all local alarm panels feeding alarn point F018 vere in service,and a fire watch was established.

Corrective Action: Under Work Request 10-060-07-79 detector DS5610 was removed and tested. I t wm ; found to be functiening properl'/. The detector was reinstalled and reset thus clearing alara point FOIS and removing the unit from the Action Statement of Technical Specification 3.3.3.S.a on June 13, 1979 at 1115 hours0.0129 days <br />0.31 hours <br />0.00184 weeks <br />4.242575e-4 months <br />.

Failure Data: There has been one previous occurrence where alarn point F018 was out of service, see Licensee Event Report NP-33-79-09.
