Dear Mr. Feyrer:

On September 19, 2018, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) cited GE Hitachi

Nuclear Energy Americas, LLC, (GE Hitachi) for its failure to implement procedures for

certain activities covering the Vallecitos Boiling Water Reactor. Inspection Report

050-00018/2018-001; 050-00070/2018-001; 050-00183/2018-001 (Agencywide Document and

Violation required you to respond in writing within 30 days. You responded by letter dated

October 19, 2018 (ADAMS Accession No. ML18292A751). During a telephonic conference on

December 19, 2018, between GE Hitachi and the NRC, you were requested to provide

additional information to describe your corrective actions. You provided supplemental

information regarding your response to the Notice of Violation by letter dated January 23, 2019

(ADAMS Accession No. ML19023A306) as discussed.

After reviewing the information you provided in your responses to the Notice of Violation, we

have concluded that your completed and proposed corrective actions appear to adequately

address the regulatory noncompliance as described in the Notice of Violation. We will review

your implementation of these corrective actions during a future inspection to determine whether

full compliance has been restored and whether compliance will be maintained.
