The public is invited to participate in this meeting by discussing regulatory issues with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) at designated points identified on the agenda.

Purpose:

On October 18, 2018, Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) transmitted a letter and a whitepaper to NRCs Executive Director of Operations (EDO) (ADAMS Accession Nos.

ML18303A098, and ML18303A106). That whitepaper entitled, Facilitating Regulatory Transformation through an Understanding of the Current Levels of Safety, provided NEIs views on the current level of safety of the U.S. nuclear fleet and how understanding the margin of plant safety to the NRC Safety Goals is foundational to the transformation of the regulatory process. The whitepaper also provided specific recommendations on how the margins to plant safety could be considered to modify a number of regulatory processes.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide NRCs high-level plans to incorporate NEIs proposal within the construct of the entirety of its regulatory framework.
