November 13, 2018 Mr. Reid Nelson, Director Office of Federal Agency Programs Advisory Council on Historic Preservation 401 F Street NW, Suite 308 Washington, DC 20001-2637

SUBJECT:

NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF THE FINAL SUPPLEMENTAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT FOR LICENSE RENEWAL OF RIVER BEND STATION, UNIT 1

Dear Mr. Nelson:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has completed the enclosed final NUREG-1437, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Supplement 58, Regarding River Bend Station, Unit 1. The final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) is being issued in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as part of the NRCs process to decide whether to issue a renewed operating license to Entergy Operations, Inc. for River Bend Station, Unit 1 (RBS). In the final SEIS, the NRC staff determined that the adverse environmental impacts of license renewal for RBS are not so great that preserving the option of license renewal for energy planning decision-makers would be unreasonable. Under the provisions of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the NRC staff determined that no historic properties would be adversely affected by this undertaking. The final SEIS will accompany the final Safety Evaluation Report to be considered in the Commissions license renewal decision making process.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Robert Hoffman, Environmental Scientist, at 301-415-1107 or by e-mail at Robert.Hoffman@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

/RA/

Benjamin Beasley, Chief Environmental Review and NEPA Branch Division of Materials and License Renewal Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket No. 50-458
