Dear Sir or Madam :

This letter provides notification of a deviation from the Boiling Water Reactor Vessel and Internals Project (BWRVIP) guidelines for River Bend Station. This is a deviation from the performance of inspection in accordance with the examination schedules of BWRVIP-76 Revision 1-A, "BWR Vessel and Internals Project, BWR Core Shroud Inspection and Flaw Evaluation Guidelines," (EPRI Report 3002005566, April 2015) .

This is a deviation from a "needed" element of the BWRVIP program to perform inspections in accordance with the guidance of BWRVIP-76-1-A. The upper sides of the H3 & H6B Core Shroud welds were not fully inspected during the RF-19 (2017) refueling outage. The inspection of the H3 weld has been scheduled for the next outage which is Refuel Outage 20 (2019) and the H6B weld will be inspected in the next scheduled BWRVIP-76-1-A inspections in 2027.

This deviation from the BWRVIP guidelines has been reviewed and approved in accordance with Entergy procedures and NEI 03-08 guidance. This is a notification of deviation only, and no action is being requested from the NRC.
