Dear Mr. Polson:

This refers to an investigation conducted by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)

Office of Investigations (OI) to determine whether a contract carpenter at Fermi Power Plant, Unit 2, was discriminated against by management for raising safety concerns. Based on the evidence developed during the investigation, we did not substantiate the allegation. The synopsis from the OI Report of Investigation is enclosed.

OI SYNOPSIS This investigation was initiated on September 6, 2016, by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Office of Investigations, Region III, to determine whether a contract carpenter at the Detroit Edison Electric Companys Fermi Nuclear Plant, Unit 2 (Fermi), in Newport, Michigan, was discriminated against by management for raising safety concerns.

Based upon the evidence developed, the allegation that a contract carpenter at Fermi was discriminated against by management for raising safety concerns is not substantiated.
