MANAGEMENT ACTIONS

1) The random selection was changed from a daily to weekly process to increase the personnel selected/tested ratio and to facilitate testing across all shifts and days of week.
2) The initial blind sample vendor was changed based on an analysis of test results.
3) The number of weekly random tests was scheduled to reach 1004 in eleven months.
4) An industry survey was conducted to determine performance standards for HHS certified laboratories. The data collected will be used to evaluate contract bid proposals if a change in certified laboratories is required.

EVENTS REPORTED Unsatisfactory performance testing results from blind test specimens submitted to Roche Biomedical Laboratories were reported to the NRC on May 29, 1990.
