MILES Equipment Evaluation

Dick, Thanks for meeting with me this afternoon. We are working to evaluate the potential use of licensee-supplied MILES equipment for NRCs Force-on-Force inspections. We have all the particular details for the equipment that NRC uses. So we can make a valid comparison, we need the following information on the systems licensees use.
1. What is the type and/or model (i.e., Saab, Cubic) of multiple integrated laser engagement system (MILES) used by each licensee?
2. What is the capability of each licensee to download MILES data to an after action report for each exercise to evaluate the performance of the implemented protective strategy?
3. What is the capability of each licensee to provide the mock adversary force with appropriate weapons and equipment as outlined in the design basis threat?
4. What is/are the safety features of each weapon or weapon system used by the licensee during force-on-force exercises?
5. What is the capability of each licensee to provide CO protection/reduction through the alternative blank-fire ammunition to reduce exercise stoppages or cumbersome compensatory measures?
6. What is the capability of each licensee to outfit MILES weapons with dry-fire capabilities for foreign material exclusion and sensitive areas?
7. What is the implementing/inspection procedure(s) for each licensee that address functionality, cleaning, maintenance, etc., of each weapon system used in licensee force-on-force exercises?
8. What is the implementing/inspection procedure for each licensee that addresses the upkeep of the licensee-owned MILES equipment?
9. Do the armorers, controllers, security staff have any training on MILES associated weapons and equipment?

Please contact Jefferson Clark, Jefferson.clark@nrc.gov , 301-287-3666 for any clarifications on the information requests.

Thanks in advance for your help.
