NRC update 12/2: Davis-Besse Good afternoon, The licensee at Davis-Besse provided updated analyses and calculations to the NRC late yesterday afternoon.

The NRC technical staff are actively reviewing these documents and could reach a conclusion regarding the functionality of the shield building late today. If this were to happen, the licensee would be permitted to begin restart operations, (the restart process is projected to take at least 50 hours5.787037e-4 days <br />0.0139 hours <br />8.267196e-5 weeks <br />1.9025e-5 months <br /> before the reactor reaches criticality).

I will keep you informed and will send an email this evening or during the weekend ifthe NRC does reach a conclusion regarding the shield building functionality. Please contact me via Blackberry with any questions.

NRC update: Davis-Besse Good afternoon, Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant has not yet restarted from its recent refueling outage and reactor-vessel head-replacement. The NRC staff continues its review of the cracks found in the shield building and their safety implications. If the NRC reaches a conclusion that the plant is safe for restart, I will promptly notify your offices.

We are planning to hold a public meeting the week of December 12, 2011; 1will provide details as soon as they are confirmed.
