SUBJECT:

WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY - NRC SECURITY-RELATED INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-027/2012-202

Dear Dr. Wall During the period July 31 to August 2, 2012, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the Commission) conducted a security inspection at your Washington State University TRIGA research reactor facility located in the Nuclear Radiation Center. The inspection included a review of activities authorized for your facility. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.

The inspection examined activities conducted under your license as they relate to security and compliance with the Commissions rules and regulations, implementation of certain compensatory measures, and compliance with the conditions of your license. The inspectors reviewed selected procedures and records, observed activities, and interviewed personnel.

Based on the results of this inspection, no findings of significance were identified.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Section 2.390 Inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room). However, because of the security-related items contained in the enclosure, and in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390(d), a copy of this letters enclosure will not be available for public inspection.
