With the plant in Mode 2, following a refueling outage, and in preparation to 90 to Made 1, an inadvertent reactor scram occurred. It was caused by personnel error. A contractor who was vacuum cleaning inside the Main Control Board accidentally bumped the reactor protection system auxiliary circuit train "A" relay (K53A) with a vacuum cleaner attachment. The bump actuated the auxiliary relay and caused a direct reactor scram (BK-1 and 2 trip). The event occurred 12/9/85 at 1125 hours0.013 days
0.313 hours
0.00186 weeks
4.280625e-4 months
. A four hour notification, pursuant to 10 CFR 50.72 b.2.11, was made at 1216 hours0.0141 days
0.338 hours
0.00201 weeks
4.62688e-4 months
on 12/9/85.

Prior to beginning work, the contractor was instructed to work carefully. There has been no similar event of this nature. After the event, the individual was reinstructed in care of work practices. This is considered an isolated event. ilo further corrective action is deemed necessary.

There was no adverse effect on the health and safety of the public as a result of this event.
