NRC recently identifiedseveral licensees that allow requalification examinations to be done at home oron-shi'ft. This is not an acceptable means for certifying individual performance,In accordance with the regulations and as further clarified inthe guidancegiven in Generic Letter 83-17, issued on April 8, 1983.In the course of reviewing this matter, we discovered that non-power reactorlicensees were'-inadvertently omitted from distribution of Generic Letter 83-17In 1983. This oversight was corrected when Generic Letter 83-17 was transmit-ted on May 22,-1987, as an attachment to Information Notice No. 87-22. NRCinspectors are aware that licensees have only recently received a copy ofGeneric Letter 83-17..-Please review Information Notice No. 87-22 for applicability to your operatorrequalification program and consider any appropriate actions. This is not an acceptable means for certifying individualperformance, as conveyed in the guidance given in Generic Letter 83-17, issuedon April 8, 1983.In the course of reviewing this matter, we discovered that non-power reactorlicensees were inadvertently omitted from distribution of Generic Letter 83-17in 1983.
